About Lisa Paterson

Lisa is from a sports background originally and spent her early career within the fitness industry. Initially qualifying in Sports Coaching and Development, she moved into a more gym oriented environment where she gained additional professional qualifications in Personal Training and Nutrition. She went on to work as the Fitness Manager of a popular health club for a number of years.

"Contrology is designed to give you suppleness, natural grace, and skill that will be unmistakably reflected in the way you walk, in the way you play, and in the way you work."
- Joseph Pilates

Lisa’s Pilates journey began following advice from an osteopath. At that time, she was struggling with injuries and was advised to try Pilates in order to strengthen her body and address some muscular imbalances. Lisa’s initial reasons for trying Pilates were born out of a wish to continue running and exercising but she was unprepared for the profound affect that Pilates would have on her. Having seen the benefits of Pilates first hand, she made a conscious decision to change career direction and concentrate on becoming a comprehensive Pilates teacher.

Lisa has trained in classical Pilates for many years, initially qualifying in mat instruction through Corpus Pilates. Since then she has studied Pilates in greater depth, both mat and apparatus, and has been fortunate enough to study under several eminent Pilates teachers from around the world.

"You are only as young as your spine is flexible."
